Band and color guard are going to the Neewollah Marching Band festival in Independence, Kansas, Saturday Oct. 29.
Band director, Tony Hutchinson (Hutch), said “It’s a very talented band led by seven seniors. It (the competition) also gives the band a opportunity to compete on a higher level and show others to see how hard they worked.”
They have had two other competitions, according to senior Natalie Stiteler. “Since this is our third competition, I’m not nervous anymore.”
Hutch believes that they will do good. They have already placed well in two other competitions.
Jenae Donnelly, color guard captain said her favorite part about color guard is the feeling when she’s on the field.
Stiteler said they have practiced even on Mondays to prepare for the competition.
Donnelly hopes for first in their division and that they place in overalls.
The Band and color guard will be in the parade to march in the contest on the football field. The group will perform at 1 p.m. on the field.
